Dear Friends,

Today at 1pm ET, join me as I discuss art and justice with Pastor Isaac Scott of The Confined Arts at the Center for Justice at Columbia University and Rabbi Adina Allen of the Jewish Studio Project. We’re glad to collaborate with T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights on this webinar - register for the webinar.

Throughout history, artists have played a critical role in shifting culture and changing the ways that we engage with and envision the world in which we live. When we create and witness art, we create and witness possibilities for new worlds.

Pastor Isaac Scott of The Confined Arts at the Center for Justice at Columbia University is an award-winning social impact multimedia artist and human rights activist. Pastor Scott is Founder & Lead Artist for The Confined Arts at the Center for Justice at Columbia University, where he spearheads the promotion of justice reform through the transformative power of the arts.

Rabbi Adina Allen of the Jewish Studio Project is a spiritual leader, writer and educator who believes in the power of creativity to revitalize our lives and transform Jewish tradition. Integrating a lifetime of experience in the expressive arts with her rabbinic training, Rabbi Allen has taught clergy, educators and lay leaders in hundreds of Jewish communal institutions across the country.

I will ask them about the role of artists within social movements and art as a tool for change. I’ll get their reactions to the current political moment, the role & responsibility of faith leaders in seeking racial justice and ending state-sponsored violence, and of course, concrete steps you can take right this moment. Register for the webinar. If you can’t make it today, the webinar will be recorded.

Sincerely,

Johnny Perez
Director, U.S. Prisons Program
