This week, our great state celebrated its 175th birthday, marking a wonderful milestone for the Golden State! In Congress, I served as Ranking Member on a committee hearing for the House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure to discuss how we can support small businesses with government contracts. On the House floor, I honored John Bromstead for his retirement and 40-year career in the U.S. Postal Service, where he drove one million accident-free miles during his tenure. Finally, I stood up for our servicemembers and put national security first by voting against the Republican’s National Defense Authorization Act.

This week, I served as Ranking Member for the House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure to discuss how we can support small businesses with government contracts during these unpredictable times. With DOGE cuts severely impacting contracts, small businesses have been forced to close, people have lost their jobs, and the unpredictability has caused chaos throughout the entire business community. 

I met with Wyatt Sharpe, a talented Gen Z anchor and reporter, to discuss youth engagement in politics. Getting involved and staying informed is crucial, no matter your age.

Team Cisneros is out in the community with mobile office hours! This week, we stopped at Duarte City Hall to meet with community members, answer questions, and help people navigate federal agencies with casework. If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, my office may be able to help. It’s always great to see the cities in CA-31 growing and improving their community. At West Covina’s State of the City and Employee Recognition, we looked back on the last year of flourishing new businesses, city improvements, and community achievements. Congratulations to Tony Andrade on being recognized as the 2025 West Covina Firefighter of the Year and thank you for all your hard work, bravery, and dedication to the city and residents of West Covina!
