The Aloha State joins the rest of the world in mourning the loss of Charles James Kirk, who was murdered by a gunman during Turning Point USA's "The American Comeback Tour" campus event at Utah Valley University this past Wednesday.
Charlie founded Turning Point USA at 18, building it into the largest conservative youth movement in the nation. A bold speaker, author, and devout Christian, he inspired millions to stand for truth, faith, and freedom.
We share heartfelt tributes from President Donald J. Trump - who will posthumously award Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom - along with others who celebrate his legacy of faith, family, and love of country.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two children. He has inspired millions of Americans to better themselves, to love God and to love others.

Our country and our party are mourning a great man who inspired millions of people by promoting the values that we hold most dear in this country.
Charlie was an advocate for freedom of speech and always allowed those with different opinions to be heard.
He used his platform to invite healthy political discussion and encouraged and motivated younger Americans to get in politics.
A huge part of our gains with young voters in the GOP can be attributed to Charlie Kirk.
President Trump praised Charlie in a heartfelt video from the Oval Office.
President Trump: “I ask all Americans to commit themselves to the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died. The values of free speech, citizenship, the rule of law and the patriotic devotion and love of God.”
In honor of Charlie, President Trump ordered all American flags throughout the U.S. to be lowered to half-staff.
Chairman Gruters: “Charlie Kirk was a father, husband, and dedicated patriot who spent his life defending conservative values and inspiring young Americans. Our hearts break for his wife, children, loved ones, and countless supporters across the country. The horrifying violence at Utah Valley University that took the life of Charlie Kirk is utterly appalling. Republicans and Democrats alike must stand united in condemning this brutality that has no place in America.”
President Trump went on to say, “For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. President Trump fondly remembered Charlie Kirk: “Don said to me, ‘He’s sort of like a son to you...’ He started this really during what would normally be college... and it’s become a movement... I’ve never seen young people, or any group, go to one person like they did to Charlie.”
President Trump described the moment he learned of Kirk’s murder: “They said, ‘Charlie Kirk is dead.’ I didn’t know what they meant. I said, ‘What do you mean, dead?’ ‘Charlie Kirk was shot...’ I just told these people, ‘Get out. Just go.’”
