Instead of waiting until 2030 for the new census data to determine the number of congressional representatives each state receives, Texas Governor Greg Abbott decided to rig the map in his party’s favor prematurely and passed his legislation to gerrymander the Lone Star State.

Governor Abbott’s partisan gerrymandering isn’t just going to deprive millions of Texans of their voice in government, it’s already starting a chain reaction of partisan gerrymandering efforts that’s rapidly spreading from coast to coast.

When it comes to our voting rights, two wrongs don’t make a right. Democrats and Republicans can’t gerrymander their way out of the crisis of partisan gerrymandering. The only way to get our democracy back on track is to elect voting rights Champions up and down the ballot and put an end to a system that lets politicians choose their voters.
