Remembering Those We Lost on 9/11

“In memory of the lives stolen by terrorists and the heroes who sacrificed themselves to save others 24 years ago. May God bless our great country.”
– President George W. Bush, Sept. 11, 2025

On Sept. 11, 2001, President Bush said in his address to the nation, “Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.”

Yesterday, members of the community, Bush Center CEO Shilo Brooks, Bush Center staff and volunteers, and scholars from the Bush Institute Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program stood before steel from the World Trade Center while reflecting on the lives lost on that day.
