It’s the end of the week, and we are more than ready for the time off after the last few incredibly heavy days. So let’s hold our noses and dive into the latest (and shittiest) abortion news, because we have to know what fights are ahead to know how we can fight back!
And there are a hell of a lot of fights. 30,000 Abortion Pills Walk Into an Incinerator…
Washington state stockpiled 30,000 abortion pills after Roe fell to protect access. But they expire in January 2026 — and the state is now set to destroy them. Look, we love that states were proactive in protecting abortion pill access, but don’t tell us Washington couldn’t have found a way to get those pills to people who actually need them. Two totally and completely unrelated facts: 1. Medication abortions accounted for about 68% of all abortions in Washington in 2024 2. Washington still has a stockpile of almost 18,000 doses which don’t expire until at least 2028 Gee, we wonder how Washington can make sure that their next stockpile doesn’t end up in the incinerator, too…
Ken Paxton’s Kink For Punishing Midwives With Prison Time Is Out Of Hand Remember the Houston midwife that Texas AG Ken Paxton was OBSESSED with arresting and accusing of performing illegal abortions in March? Shit just got real. |
Prosecutors dropped 15 MORE felony charges on her. Maria Rojas is the first person criminally charged under Texas’s post-Roe abortion ban. The state shut down her three clinics and now she faces a $10,000 fine and even a life sentence in prison.
Stripping midwives from their communities is a direct attack on ALL aspects of pregnancy care, including abortions—especially in Black and Brown communities. Criminalizing their work doesn’t make Texans safer, it makes people more vulnerable and puts them in serious life-or-death danger. Which, more and more, feels less like an unintended consequence than it does the entire heartless point of these bullshit laws.
Continuing His Nightmare Streak Of Judicial Appointments: The Chad Meredith Comeback Tour is One Literally No One Asked For
Trump is resurrecting no-hit wonder Chad Meredith, former Kentucky Solicitor General and deputy counsel under Gov. Matt Bevin, for a lifetime federal district court seat. Chad was dropped during the Biden admin because of releasing such flops as defending abortion restrictions, mandatory ultrasound and fetal “heartbeat” laws, and arguing clinic closures would have minimal impact on patients. And then there were Chad’s bonus hate tracks: hostility towards voting rights, workers’ rights, union protections, LGBTQIA+ equality, environmental protections, and COVID precautions! This is one shitty reunion tour that lasts a lifetime.

New Feminist Buzzkills Episode: Drops TODAY! |
Feminist Buzzkills is officially BACK! Lizz is still out meeting with activists in Colombia and speaking at screenings of No One Asked You, at The Colombia International Human Rights Festival. But huzzah—joining Moji is AAF’s inimitable Head Writer, Alyssa “Dooks” Al-Dookhi to guest co-host! They’ll be talking about abortion providers knowing how to minimize IUD insertion pain, the skills they have to be particularly compassionate when dealing with the full spectrum of reproductive care, and the latest evil plan of fake clinics moving into the telehealth space.
And WHOA! The Guests! Moji and Dooks are talking with real-life superstar, Ali Kliegman, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Care for All Clinic, a brand-spanking-new nonprofit abortion clinic in the heart of Milwaukee. You’ll hear from Ali about the uphill battle of starting a clinic, the violence and harassment Care for All has already faced, and how we can all continue to support their work! |
Of course, it ain’t Feminist Buzzkills without joy and laughter—and you can bet your ass that comedian, matchmaker, and lawyer Yasmin Elhady is bringing it all. She’ll be chatting about her dating reality show on Hulu, Muslim Matchmaker, where she helps guide young Muslim Americans towards dating with marriage in mind. Oh, and she’s also a lawyer, mother, and comedian… so pretty much, she can just teach us about anything.
