This is the breakthrough you fought for. ⭐

Yesterday morning, my screen refreshed and there it was: Subway—the green‑and‑yellow on every highway exit, the counter where you point and say “extra peppers,” the home of the footlong—finally laid out how it will keep the promise it made in 2015. Subway is officially ending cages across North America, with the US done by November 1, 2025 and Canada close behind.

In other words: the countdown is on. We’re down to weeks—not years—of cages in Subway’s US supply chain. That’s 340,000 birds soon-to-be spared from extreme confinement, because you wrote, you called, you showed up.

You took on a household name and made it keep its word. This is your win—Subway heard you.

Grateful for you,

Anna Peer

P.S. Keep the momentum going—tell Best Western and Ahold Delhaize (Stop & Shop, Food Lion, Giant) to match Subway’s move and end cages now:

Birds are meant to spread their wings. Demand an end to cages.

End Cages Now

Hi there,

People like you have been showing up for animals all summer long. Protesting. Making phone calls. Sending emails. And all summer long, Subway has stayed silent.

Nearly 300,000 hens remain trapped in cages—waiting for Subway’s leadership to keep their promise to end the cruelty. They’re hoping we’ll just give up and go away. But we’re not backing down.

Don’t let hens go another season in cages.

END THE CRUELTY

As a campaigner, I know this is a critical moment. Subway has been feeling the heat all summer, and your voice could be the tipping point.

Every email, every message, every action brings us closer to the day when these hens will finally feel solid ground beneath their feet—the day when they’ll finally get to spread their wings. Thank you for fighting for them.

Onward and upward,

P.S. A bunch of new executives are starting at Subway. The company thinks it’s entering a new season with incoming leadership—but hens can’t go another season in cruel cages.

Subway assumes we’ll lose momentum. Let’s prove them wrong.
