Y’all, there’s no sugarcoating it: Ken Paxton and his Republican loyalists are trying to destroy the separation of church and state in Texas. 

Texas recently passed a law mandating that public elementary and secondary school classrooms display the Ten Commandments. Shortly thereafter, a federal judge temporarily halted enforcement of the law over concerns that it was unconstitutional.

But that didn’t stop Ken Paxton from ignoring the court’s order and requiring that Texas public schools display the Ten Commandments anyway — a clear violation of the rule of law and the Constitution.

The separation of church and state, and tolerance for all religions, has been a bedrock principle of our democracy for centuries.

But now Republicans, led by Ken Paxton, are trying to turn back the clock and impose a theocracy here in Texas.

We refuse to let them get away with it. But we need to know that you stand with us and support our fight for secularism and religious tolerance here in Texas.
