MAHA Strategy Report Released
AVFCA's Mission and Work Validated!
This week marked a historic moment with the release of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Strategy Report. A new era of health policy has begun: the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) strategy was announced Sept. 10 🇺🇸. It is a sweeping federal roadmap focused on prevention, transparency, and rebuilding public confidence. MAHA shifts the focus upstream - from reacting to disease to preventing it through food, transparency, and research. It reframes health as a shared mission instead of a crisis response, and includes:
- School cafeterias 🍎🥛: Whole milk and full-fat dairy return, ultra-processed foods defined, and SNAP & WIC tightened for real nutrition. 👉 Kids get real nourishment back on the menu, shaping healthier habits early.
- Chemical safety 🧪: FDA’s GRAS loophole challenged, petroleum-based dyes phased out, PFAS & fluoridation re-examined. 👉 For the first time, everyday exposures face rigorous independent review.
- Local systems 🚜: Support for dairies, zoning fixes for food deserts, CSA programs streamlined—families gain access to fresher food. 👉 Strengthening farms means stronger economies and healthier communities.
- Research investment 🔬: Vaccine injury program at NIH, autism studies via Real World Data Platform, rural & tribal health reviews. 👉 Sensitive questions once shelved are finally being studied openly.
- Chronic disease focus ❤️: Nutrition, sleep, microbiome, and oral health explored alongside AI for early detection & prevention. 👉 The goal is to spot risks sooner, personalize care, and extend healthy years
While MAHA sets a strong foundation, it is not without gaps. Some concerns, like the continued use of harmful pesticides such as glyphosate, remain unresolved. This is why citizen advocacy must remain at the heart of this transformation. The MAHA strategy reflects years of grassroots advocacy. For nearly a decade, AVFCA has championed transparency, health freedom, and accountability, pressing for many of the very reforms now elevated to the national stage. Our work exposing risks from ultra-processed foods, additives, and toxins has built momentum for this kind of change. With MAHA, AVFCA's mission and work are affirmed—but our role is more important than ever. AVFCA will continue educating the public, serving as a watchdog to ensure policies deliver on their promises, and representing the voices of families like yours, especially in California.
