Dear John,

We are devastated about the passing of Charlie Kirk. Our prayers are with Charlie’s wife and children and all those who knew and loved him.

Charlie was a force in the conservative movement and was dedicated to creating a space on campus for students to discuss issues and ideologies respectfully. He wasn’t afraid to go onto hostile college campuses, and he challenged young people to think for themselves. Political violence is unacceptable. As Charlie himself once warned ([link removed]) , “When people stop talking, that’s when violence happens.”

Charlie’s words continue to resonate deeply with those he inspired. His unwavering commitment to free speech, individual liberty, and personal responsibility was central to his work. “I want to be remembered for courage for my faith," he said when asked about his legacy in a June interview ([link removed]) . "That would be the most important thing. The most important thing is my faith.” That courage of faith defined his work and leadership.

Charlie also believed strongly in the next generation. His reflections ([link removed]) on how fatherhood changed his life showed just how personal and profound that work had become for him. “Becoming a father has radicalized me in the best way possible. It’s made me realize that what I’m fighting for is beyond even yourself.”

May Charlie’s legacy continue to inspire courage and conviction in the next generation.
