(Take action, then forward this to friends to help build support!) There is a shutdown looming, ahead of a September 30th deadline, and Congressional Democrats are meeting today to plot strategy. Tell them not to cave to Republican threats, and to let the Republicans shut it down unless they offer meaningful concessions. Many Democrats are already showing courage, and ready to stand strong, but we need as many as possible on board to defend essential programs and priorities. So let them hear from you! Now, the reality is that Republicans control all branches of the government, so there is a limit on what we can get. But they will need 60 votes to pass it in the Senate, so Democrats do real some power here. This is the chance to undo some of the damage done by Republicans under Trump, and to push back on Trump's push towards ever-increasing authoritarianism. And if Republicans refuse, and shut it down? Let them go for it, and good luck explaining to the voters why the party that controls all levers of government can't keep it running.
