Franson Banner
Good morning,
This week has been a solemn and difficult time across our communities and the nation. Many are feeling grief and reflection, remembering lives lost and the challenges faced by those affected by recent tragedies. I pray for healing and support for anyone who is suffering in light of these events, and I encourage you to take care of yourself in the midst of this challenging time.
In Memory of Charlie Kirk
Wednesday's tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, sent shockwaves across the nation. Charlie was a prominent conservative voice who devoted his life to encouraging young people to get involved, ask tough questions, and take part in civic life. He was known for his courage in engaging with people who held opposing views and for his steadfast commitment to the principles he believed in. While authorities work to ensure that the individual responsible for this horrific act is held accountable, it is important that we remember Charlie not only for his leadership but also for his willingness to stand firm in the face of criticism. My prayers are with his wife, children, loved ones, and the many people he inspired.

Remembering September 11th, 2001
Just yesterday, we paused to remember September 11th, 2001, on the 24th anniversary of that tragic day. It is a time to honor the thousands of lives lost, the first responders who risked everything to save others, and the countless families and communities forever changed. As we reflect, we are reminded of the resilience, courage, and unity that emerged in the wake of this tragedy and the importance of carrying those lessons forward in our daily lives.

Continued Murmurs of Special Session
While no special session has been officially called, discussions continue about the possibility. So far, the only substantive policy proposal that has been put forward was by the House GOP. From my perspective, any session must focus on practical, commonsense solutions that actually keep our communities and schools safe. I also believe any discussion must address harmful laws that undermine parents’ rights, including the transgender refuge state law, which prevents children from getting the guidance and support they truly need. With razor-thin margins in the House and Senate, bipartisan cooperation will be necessary, and I will continue to push for measures that protect students, support mental health, and hold violent offenders accountable rather than pursuing blanket policies that have failed elsewhere.
