A letter that Survival sent to India's Ministry of Tribal Affairs was forwarded to the local state authorities demanding they take all "necessary actions" to protect the rights of the Jenu Kuruba people to their ancestral lands. They were previously evicted to make way for a tiger reserve. In June, state security forces began dismantling the shelters the Jenu Kuruba had erected after they reclaimed their ancestral land. The Ministry letter is a huge development, giving a massive boost to the Jenu Kuruba’s fight to stay in their forest home. Since May, over 12,000 of you have lobbied India’s authorities to make sure the Jenu Kuruba are left in peace on their land. This is another testament to the strength of your campaigning.
