September 2025 Update

September was packed with action—and AYD showed up in force! First, we want to thank everyone who came out to our Annual Membership BBQ—it was a wonderful evening connecting with friends and fellow Democrats. We also had an amazing turnout at the Arlington Democrats Labor Day Chili Cook-Off, enjoying gorgeous weather and feasting on 17 different chili entries! Special shout out to AYD member Yint Hmu for taking home the People’s Choice Award!

Now, it’s time to turn that energy into action. We’re down to less than 60 days until Election Day — and it’s time for Arlington Young Democrats to roll up our sleeves and get to work 💪. Whether it’s knocking doors, making calls, or texting voters here in Arlington or in key competitive districts that will decide the majority in Richmond, there’s a role for you.

Here’s how you can plug in:

✊ Canvass outside Arlington. Got a car? You’re a game-changer. (Our E-Board doesn’t have many — blame our love for Metro 😁). We’ll even reimburse gas at $0.60/mile round trip.
🤳 Phonebank from anywhere. Can’t make a weekend canvass? Join a phone or text bank! Dialers keep your number private, and you can reach hundreds of voters in just one session.
🫣 Bit of an introvert? No worries! Arlington Dems need help distributing 40,000 pieces of literature across the county - sign up here! Just throw on your favorite podcast and drop materials at doors [here’s one of our faves!].

We need you to help AYD win! Log your campaign activities here so we can stay in the top three Virginia Young Dems chapters for the 2025 VAYD Campaign competition!

Also, don’t forget: early voting begins Thursday, September 19! Arlington Democrats will host a kickoff rally that morning to launch the season—get the details here!

Join EcoAction for their Annual Trash Tally, in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup and Clean Virginia Waterways! Participants will break out into small groups to tally the trash that is collected using the CleanSwell app.
