EMET Honors the Life and Legacy of Charlie Kirk

Washington, D.C. — On this day, September 11, as our nation pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost in the attacks of 2001, the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET) mourns the sudden passing of another great American patriot, Charlie Kirk, at the young age of 31.

Charlie’s vision, passion, and unwavering dedication to the principles of liberty touched millions of lives across this country. As the founder of Turning Point USA, he built one of the most dynamic grassroots movements in America, inspiring countless young people to rediscover the Constitution, embrace freedom of speech, and cherish the values that make our nation strong.

Defender of America’s First Principles

Charlie was deeply devoted to the American Constitution, particularly its protections of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. He believed these principles were not abstract ideas, but the foundation of human dignity and opportunity. His eloquence, clarity, and courage in debate gave voice to truths that too often went unspoken in our public discourse.

At universities and rallies, he faced fierce opposition, yet always responded with conviction and reason. His ability to engage, to persuade, and to inspire left an indelible mark on a generation searching for clarity and leadership.

A Friend of Israel and Advocate for Faith

Charlie’s commitment to religious freedom extended beyond our borders. He understood that faith is the wellspring of moral strength and civil society. He was also a passionate defender of the state of Israel, recognizing it not only as America’s closest ally in the Middle East, but as a beacon of democracy, resilience, and shared values.

For Charlie, standing with Israel was not a matter of politics—it was a matter of moral clarity. He often reminded audiences of the spiritual and historic bond between the American and Jewish peoples, and he never wavered in his defense of that alliance.

A Life of Character and Generosity

Beyond the stage and the headlines, Charlie was known for his humility, kindness, and generosity of spirit. Friends and colleagues recall his willingness to pause, listen, pray, and offer encouragement—even in the busiest of times. He gave not only of his resources, but of himself, leaving those around him uplifted and strengthened.

A Husband, Father, and Patriot Gone Too Soon

Charlie’s passing is made even more heartbreaking by the fact that he leaves behind his beloved wife, as well as a young son and daughter. To them, he was not the national figure known to millions, but a devoted husband and playful, loving father.

“Charlie’s death is a profound loss not only for his family, but for America,” said Sarah N. Stern, Founder and President of EMET. “He embodied the best of our nation’s spirit—courage, generosity, and an unshakable belief in the power of truth. His legacy will endure in the movement he built and in the millions he inspired. Right now, there is a deep void in one of the chambers of my heart, where Charlie’s legacy stood. May his memory be a blessing.”

Carrying Forward His Legacy

Though Charlie was taken from us far too soon, his work continues. The institutions he founded, the students he mentored, and the voices he emboldened will carry forward his mission to defend liberty and truth.

On this solemn anniversary of September 11, EMET calls on all Americans to honor Charlie’s memory by recommitting ourselves to the values he cherished: freedom, faith, courage, and love of country.
