Abigail Spanberger for Governor

Today, we honor the memory of nearly 3,000 innocent Americans slain by terrorists in New York City, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

They started that day, 24 years ago, like any other — driving on the highway, boarding a flight, brewing coffee at the office. But they never returned home.

The stories are seared into our collective memory, of passengers aboard the hijacked planes phoning home, first responders combing through the smoldering debris, and communities still in grief holding vigils for the fallen.

In the wake of the attacks, we set aside our politics and showed our unbreakable American spirit. It's an example we'd do well to follow today.

I hope you'll join me in remembering the heroes of 9/11 and standing with their loved ones. They were our friends and neighbors, and their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
