Summer vacations are coming to an end. Were you able to get outside this summer and enjoy our public lands? Whether or not you did, our public lands are under threat - most recently with the proposal to eliminate the Roadless Rule ( read more here [[link removed]] ). Our public lands shape who we are, shelter our wildlife, and protect our ecosystems. They are so much more than a place to visit. The memories we create on our public lands are lasting. Read this story from one of our members, Lynn Norris, from Redmond, Oregon:
As many of my generation did, my family practically lived in our public lands and National parks. One place in particular was magical for me, White Sands New Mexico. We camped in the middle of glorious white dunes, looked at full moons shine on sparkling nights, and I formed a love of the land and all of nature. I also learned this place held horses that ranchers left when the government forced them to sell and used White Sands for military bombing practice. The book , ‘Nobody’s Horses’ explains their rescue. I love so many of our beautiful parks and lands, and know they must shine for us always.
Our public lands can’t speak up to our legislators. They need your voice and your story to remind those in power just how important these places are, and how much we care about them. Will you join Lynn in sharing your public lands story? [[link removed]]
