FIRST: Donald Trump already sent armed troops into Washington, D.C. as a political power grab. And he’s threatening to deploy forces into cities like Chicago and Baltimore. So much for Republicans believing in federalism.

NOW: Congress is preparing to vote on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Passing this bill hands Trump a blank check to militarize our streets.

Before I explain, will you add your name right now to demand Congress vote NO on Trump’s trillion-dollar war budget?

The NDAA authorizes nearly $1 trillion in defense spending — even as the Department of Defense has failed seven consecutive audits and contractors continue to price-gouge taxpayers. This money doesn’t make us safer. Instead, it fuels waste, fraud, and the kind of authoritarian overreach that allows Trump to turn the military against our own people.

I fully support a strong national defense that meets today’s challenges — but true security doesn’t come from sending troops into American neighborhoods. It comes from investing in healthcare, affordable housing, education, and jobs.

Voting for the NDAA gives Trump the tools to escalate his attacks on our communities. We need to stand our ground and not capitulate.
