From record-breaking heat and wildfire smoke to skyrocketing rents and abortion bans, the crises are piling up — and a tiny circle of billionaires is profiting off the mess. Join us to march on Saturday, September 20th in NYC and across the country to demand a better future for our communities and for all living beings. Our three demands are: shut down billionaires and fund our future; shut down fascists and protect migrants and the global majority; shut down polluters and defend Mother Earth.
Our Sun Day celebration is September 21!
Sunday, September 21 • 2:00 - 5:00 pm
Christ Church in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn • Map
350Brooklyn will celebrate Sun Day with music, art-making in collaboration with The Painting School, solar demonstrations, and children’s activities. Experts from Brooklyn Solar Works, Solar One, and UPROSE will share how all Brooklynites can tap into the power of the sun, whether they rent or own their homes. Renewable energy is the key to a livable environment. It’s also the cheapest energy on earth. This is one of hundreds of Sun Day events around the country. Join us in a festive afternoon to celebrate the clean energy revolution and take action to keep it moving forward!
People’s Hearing for Public Renewables
Tuesday, September 9 • 6:30 - 8:30 pm
First Unitarian Congregational Society, 119 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn • Map
The Build Public Renewables Act requires the state to build publicly owned clean energy to meet our climate goals, lower utility bills, create green union jobs, and shutter super-polluting peaker plants. But the state’s plans to build clean energy don’t go far enough. The New York Power Authority has refused to hold an in-person hearing on their latest public renewables plan, so we’re holding our own People’s Hearing in Brooklyn. Come help us send the message: build more and go faster!
Testify! New York’s Draft State Energy Plan
Dates all through September starting Saturday, September 13
New York State has issued a plan for the next 15 years that it says will fulfill the mandates of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act to 2040. The plan has some good things, some bad things, and some gaps. It’s critical that we weigh in as there are forces in NYS that are using this to try to weaken climate action! You can read an analysis here or attend a webinar on September 16. You can use a one-click tool to send testimony. Renewable Heat now has links to a guide to writing your own, testifying virtually between 11 am and 1 pm on September 13, in person from 5 pm to 7 pm on September 17 in Brooklyn (City Tech Theater, 285 Jay Street), or again virtually from 5 pm to 7 pm on September 30. If many people testify, we can really push the state to do better.
Tell Hochul to Say NO to Trump and to the Williams NESE Pipeline!
Thanks again to everyone who has jumped in to submit comments, send postcards and make calls to the DEC and DPS urging them to deny Williams the permits they need to build this polluting, climate changing and expensive fracked gas pipeline! This week, we need as many of you as possible to send messages to Governor Hochul.
UPDATE: Governor Hochul is now expected to make an early decision and can approve the proposal no matter what DEC decides. She is still maintaining that she will evaluate projects based on reliability, affordability, and adherence to the law. The Williams pipeline fails on all three counts but there is growing concern that she will cave to pressure from Trump to approve the pipeline. Therefore, we need as many people as possible to put massive amounts of pressure on Governor Hochul to stand up to Trump and SAY NO to the pipeline! So we are now asking you to sign as many as FIVE prewritten comments (with room to add your own thoughts) by going to this webpage. These will get sent directly to Governor Hochul’s office.
There will be more actions coming up so watch this website for updates or contact [email protected].

The Media Committee is 350Brooklyn's all-around in-house media team. We write copy, design graphics, run 350BK's social media channels and website, edit our biweekly community newsletter, and oversee creative initiatives like the new 350Brooklyn e-magazine Parts Per Million. Get in touch at [email protected].
Plastic Free works to eliminate plastic pollution and reduce reliance on single-use plastic products. We meet monthly via Zoom, and work on a variety of projects including legislative lobbying efforts, campaigns promoting going plastic free, and neighborhood efforts to reduce waste. Email us at [email protected].
Power Hour is a weekly session of phone-calling power. Each week we convene on Zoom to call, email, and tweet at our elected leaders about a different climate or environmental justice issue prioritized by 350BK and our allies. Power Hour is designed to be high impact, but low pressure and low commitment. Join us every week as a way to routinize your climate activism, or come only on weeks when you’re free.
