Yesterday, Prime Minister Mark Carney was asked if Canada is still committed to meeting our 2030 climate target.

He wouldn’t answer.

Neither would his environment minister. Neither would his industry minister. Three times in one day, this government refused to say whether Canada will honour its Paris Agreement commitments.

In just a few short months, Carney has scrapped the consumer carbon price, pushed the electric vehicle mandate off into the future, and rammed through Bill C-5 — the “bulldozer bill” that strips away environmental protections, violates Indigenous rights, and silences public input.

Meanwhile, wildfires and heat waves have put homes and lives at risk all across the country this summer. Canadians are paying the price for delay and retreat.

Carney’s government is rolling back climate action when we need it most. As Elizabeth May put it, “These are not the decisions of a leader serious about the climate emergency.”

But Greens aren’t backing down. We know what needs to be done and we’re committed to this fight. We’re not afraid to speak truth to power.
