The numbers are coming in on racial disparities in health care during the pandemic -- and they’re even worse than we feared.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services report that African Americans enrolled in Medicare have been hospitalized with COVID at nearly quadruple the rate of white enrollees.
Latinx Americans have been hospitalized at almost double the rate of whites -- and the AAPI community has seen 1.5x times as many hospitalizations.
In short, communities of color are bearing the brunt of a crisis that America’s extremely white administration has failed to address. That’s not fair -- and it won’t happen again. Not on our watch.
