Hi,
What do a vegetable garden in Dallas, an emergency care package in Denver and a partnership with World Central Kitchen, founded by Chef José Andrés in New York City have in common?
They are just three ways the IRC is helping refugees in the U.S. during the coronavirus pandemic. Learn more about our coast-to-coast efforts and how you can get involved »
We work with refugees in more than 20 offices across the U.S.. IRC teams and volunteers have been in these communities for years — building trust and providing life-changing support to resettled families. As we fight the spread of the coronavirus, those relationships and our work have never been more important.
In the communities where we work, many refugees are elderly or have serious health conditions that put them at greater risk for COVID-19. Our teams are providing individualized outreach, working with interpreters to translate health and prevention information, putting families in touch with doctors and distributing health and hygiene kits.
But, our efforts also go beyond stopping the spread of disease. We're quickly expanding our programs to help refugees who have lost jobs or sources of income due to the pandemic:
In Dallas, we're packaging and donating fresh produce from our New Roots garden to help families who can’t afford healthy foods during this difficult time.
In Denver, our teams are delivering essentials, like food, clothes and hygiene kits to refugee families in the metro area.
In New York City, we've partnered with World Central Kitchen, founded by José Andrés to provide free meals to New Yorkers in need.
Thank you so much for being with us. This work — and all of our programs around the world — is possible because of people like you.
