“Alarm over voter purges as 17m Americans removed from rolls in two years” — The Guardian, Aug 1, 2019
John xxxxxx, This month marks the 54th anniversary of the historic passage of the Voting Rights Act, which officially outlawed discrimination at the ballot box. We have certainly come a long way — but that hasn't stopped the GOP from using voter suppression and outright physical barriers to stop Americans from making their voices heard. In state after state, election after election, we continue to see voter purges and strategies of suppression and disenfranchisement. In fact, at least 17 million voters were purged nationwide between 2016 and 2018. The unfortunate reality is that it’s getting harder, not easier, to cast a ballot in the United States. If you agree that every American who has the right to vote should be able to exercise that right freely and fairly, please add your name — and then confirm your voter registration NOW. As we approach one of the most important elections in our lifetime, it’s more important than ever that we ensure every eligible American can cast a ballot in November 2020 without fear of suppression or fraud. Our democracy depends on all individuals — regardless of race, income or status — exercising their right to vote. Thank you, Team Jeffries
