Congress was on recess all of AugustJohn,, but we officially started back in Washington again earlier this week.

I thought it would be useful to list my priorities for this session, because you deserve accountability and transparency into what I’m working on.

1. Assault Weapons Ban – I introduced a bill to reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 back in March, and it’s a policy I’m still full steam ahead on. Banning assault weapons is a common sense solution that will actively reduce the number of deaths and injuries from gun violence.
2.
3. Fighting for Georgia to participate in the Summer EBT program – I led the effort to send a letter to Gov. Brian Kemp to encourage him to opt-in to receiving federal funding for the USDA’s Summer EBT program. Over 40% of the 2.8 million children in Georgia are eligible for this program, but families are being prevented from participating.
4.
5. Mitigate the pain of the Republican spending bill – I know that the “big, beautiful bill” will affect everything from your price of healthcare and energy, to potentially job losses. My priority in Congress these next few months will be to find ways to support Georgia families in the wake of this bill – which is why I’m pushing Gov. Kemp to accept Summer EBT funding.

If you support my priorities list for this session (and even if you don’t!), I want to hear from you. A leader can only be effective if they’re responsive to the needs of their constituents.
