*Gov. Reynolds gives keynote speech at DialogueNEXT hosted by World Food Prize Foundation in New Delhi* DES MOINES— Today, Governor Kim Reynolds gave a keynote address at DialogueNEXT, a two-day symposium in New Delhi, India, convening food system stakeholders to discuss breakthrough agricultural innovations and reforms to improve global food security. The event is hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation in conjunction with CIMMYT, Borlaug Institute for South Asia, and Indian Council for Agricultural Research. Governor Reynolds is in India conducting an eight-day trade and investment mission which includes a 20-member delegation representing Iowa’s agricultural, education, and government sectors. The following is an excerpt from Governor Reynolds’ speech: “I come to you from Iowa, in the heart of America, where agriculture is more than an industry; it’s a way of life. “With just over three million people, Iowa produces enough corn, pork, eggs, beef and dairy to help feed hundreds of millions around the globe. In fact, our farmers produce 10 percent of America’s food supply with less than 1 percent of its population. “But Iowa’s story is about more than abundance; it’s about innovation. From precision agriculture and biotechnology to renewable fuels and soil conservation, we are constantly working to improve yields, protect the environment, and make food systems more sustainable. “And we recognize that food security is inseparable from energy security. Iowa leads America in renewable fuels production. Ethanol and biodiesel provide affordable, clean energy that supports farmers while helping countries like India diversify their energy sources and reduce emissions. “For its part, India is not only a rising economic power. It also plays a vital role in building solutions for food and energy security. By combining Iowa’s agricultural innovation with India’s scale, talent, and growing market, we can create new pathways to feed the world.” Gov. Reynolds and her delegation continue their trade and investment mission this week with visits to Pune and Mumbai. # # #
