I did not expect to be campaigning during a global pandemic, an economic crisis, AND a historic racial justice movement. Yet, here we are.

Now more than ever, it is essential that we have leaders who have first-hand knowledge of what Americans are going through, so we can implement lasting solutions. Our solutions need to be ones that address the massive institutional cracks that COVID-19 has exposed.

From food insecurity, to economic instability, to education inequities, to lack of access to affordable healthcare, the pandemic has shown us that far too many people are living on the margins, without an adequate safety net. I understand what it feels like to be unable to put food on the table or afford critical medical care.

Representation matters.

I put my re-election campaign on the back burner while I worked day and night to legislate and bring relief back to my community. Now, we have to get back to some campaign work to ensure that we get over the finish line and keep me at the table in Washington.
