Let's get ready

Dear Advocate,

Barriers to the ballot weaken our voting power -- and particularly for the LGBTQ+ community.

Many transgender people do not have forms of ID that reflect their true gender identity, either because they are in the process of changing their documents or because they face financial or legal barriers to doing so. LGBTQ+ people have reported experiencing intimidation and harassment at the polls. And many LGBTQ+ people face compounded voter discrimination based on other characteristics, including race, age, disability, and economic status.

We can't let these barriers to voting continue -- for anyone, anywhere.

Senators must pass the HEROES Act, which includes $3.6 billion for safe and fair elections. With this funding, your state and local elected officials can ensure that voters have access to the ballot and do not have to choose between their health and their constitutional right to vote. This is especially important for the LGBTQ+ community, who are vulnerable to voting discrimination and disenfranchisement.

Together, let's ensure LGBTQ+ people have full voting power in the November election and beyond. Get started by tuning into Turn Up Tuesday today at 5:30 PM EDT -- our weekly Facebook web series about turning up to vote and protecting our democracy. [link removed]

This week, you'll hear from leaders, experts, and influencers about how to mobilize LGBTQ+ voters and urge officials nationwide to ensure fair, safe, and accessible elections in 2020 -- plus how you can get involved in the fight.

We won't be silenced during this critical election year. Tune in today at 5:30 pm EDT and speak up for voting rights. [link removed]
