Email from Rep. Gonzales No Days Off Congress just wrapped up a district work period, and it was great to be on the ground in TX-23 sharing my work for you in Washington. Water Infrastructure for Border Communities Recently, I joined the North American Development Bank (NADBank) to announce the $400 million investment to support water infrastructure in border communities. From our homes to the fields, having a clean, reliable water supply is a must. This fund will provide financing for important infrastructure to support and conserve water supplies along the U.S.-Mexico border. Through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee, I've consistently worked to deliver and advance policies that support water infrastructure and access. NADBank has been an excellent partner, and I look forward to working together to deliver more results for border communities. PICTURED: Congressman Gonzales speaking at the NADBank Summit National Strategy for School Security Act This week, the House Homeland Security Committee passed my bill, the National Strategy for School Security Act. The harsh reality is that our schools have become soft targets for twisted individuals to commit despicable acts of violence. To counter these threats, school campuses across the country must have access to the very best resources and information available to prevent and respond to potential attacks. Unfortunately, a comprehensive, federal framework on school security does not exist, and this puts a huge burden on our local schools to fend for themselves, particularly in rural and underserved areas. We cannot defeat evil if we do not have a strategy. The National Strategy for School Safety Act takes a very important step to fill that gap and ensure schools of all shapes and sizes can access best practices to create a safe campus environment. Energy Security = National Security Recently, I visited Sul Ross State University for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the new Texas Center for Energy Security (TXCES). Through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee, I secured $2.5 million to help students at Sul Ross find and land careers in the oil and gas sector and protect our energy producers from cyberattacks. Protecting our resources and staffing up the energy workforce is critical to our national security and economic growth missions. Sul Ross will lead the way in building up our energy priorities.
