Restoring Economic Prosperity on Main Street

Texans, hardworking families, and small business owners across America are benefiting from Republicans’ work to put Main Street first. The Working Families Tax Cuts, passed by House Republicans and signed into law by President Trump, deliver bigger paychecks and create millions of jobs. As a small business owner and Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, I understand firsthand how policies coming out of Washington, D.C. can directly impact the day-to-day lives of Americans. I will continue fighting each day to restore economic prosperity, support small businesses, secure our border, unleash American energy, invest in rural America, and Make America Great Again. Watch my speech on the House Floor here.

Extending Small Business Innovation Research Programs

For more than forty years, the SBIR and STTR programs have empowered small businesses to transform bold ideas into technologies that fuel the economy and support national defense. As we reach the expiration date for these programs, Congress cannot allow for any lapse in resources to the small businesses that drive American innovation. I introduced a bill calling for a one-year extension for the SBIR and STTR programs, allowing both the House and the Senate more time to continue negotiations on the programs’ reauthorization.

Expanding Access to Broadband for Rural Small Businesses

This week, I led a hearing examining how expanding access to broadband in rural areas can help small businesses overcome barriers and achieve economic success. Rural entrepreneurs cannot compete on a level playing field because there is a lack of access to reliable internet. Regulatory burdens are hindering broadband infrastructure from being deployed and harming small business success. My Committee is taking steps alongside the Trump Administration to reduce red tape, lower the cost of service, and increase broadband deployment in the heart of America to ensure Main Street has the tools it needs to thrive in today’s modern economy. In Case You Missed It!

American citizens should not have to tolerate lawlessness in their communities. For too long, Democrats’ out-of-control crime crisis has torn apart families, wreaked havoc on small businesses, and strained the economy. I joined NewsNation to discuss the impacts skyrocketing crime has had on businesses across the country, and ways President Trump and House Republicans are working to restore law and order and Make America Safe Again. Watch the full clip here.
