Donald Trump's army of masked ICE agents have been caught attacking
workers with nightsticks, slamming people's heads into the ground,
smashing car windows, using explosives to blow doors off of homes with
children inside, and shooting into moving vehicles.^1

Enough is enough. There's no legitimate reason for any law enforcement
officer to hide their face unless they intend to do something they
shouldn't. It's time to unmask ICE.

The good news is that a major grassroots backlash has prompted cities and
towns around the country to start passing laws requiring federal agents to
show their faces, and legislation has been introduced in Congress to
unmask ICE as well.^2

When Tufts University student Rümeysa Öztürk was kidnapped off the street
and forced into an unmarked van by masked, plainclothed ICE agents, video
of the incident went viral on social media and triggered nationwide
outrage.

But now, months later, these incidents have become so routine that most of
them get little if any coverage.

In a democracy, police identify themselves and operate according to the
rule of law. Masked, unidentified cops are the stuff of totalitarian
regimes.

They cover their faces so they can act with impunity and violate civil
rights without ever facing accountability. And that’s exactly what we’re
seeing now.

Demand Progress Action is rallying public support for legislation that has
been introduced in both the House and Senate to require ICE agents to show
their faces and provide clear identification, and we’re counting on your
