Dear John,

Facebook reported $70 billion in advertising revenue and $18.5 billion in profit in 2019. Despite its huge revenue and profits, Facebook has repeatedly failed to meaningfully address hate, incitement to violence, and disinformation across all its products.

ADL – along with the NAACP, LULAC, Color of Change, Common Sense, Mozilla, Free Press, the National Hispanic Media Coalition and Sleeping Giants – has launched Stop Hate For Profit, a campaign asking businesses to stop advertising on Facebook to demand that the company stop allowing its platform to be used to spread hate.

The campaign is working. Over 180 companies have pledged to pull their advertisements, and Facebook has noticed. Now is the time to keep up the pressure.

Whether you are a corporate executive, consultant, consumer or concerned individual, you can join in this important effort to tell Facebook to "Stop Hate for Profit."

Since launching #StopHateForProfit two weeks ago, major companies like Verizon, Unilever, Coca Cola, North Face, Levi's and many more have already joined and announced they will not advertise on Facebook and other social media platforms in July – and some even through the end of the year.

If a company you know is ready to commit, they should sign up or reach out to [email protected] for more information.
 

Interested businesses must sign up by 11:59 PM TONIGHT.


Our voices have the power to make change. Together, we can send Facebook a powerful message: your profits are not worth promoting hate, bigotry, racism, antisemitism and violence.

  • Demand Facebook adopt our product recommendations to stop online hate and extremism.
  • Urge businesses to hit pause on all advertising spend on Facebook properties in July.
  • Send the message that profits will never be worth supporting hate of any kind.
