John,
While President Trump and his advisors would like us to believe that “there’s no second wave” of COVID-19, we know that this pandemic is far from over.
The Senate has had five months to pass legislation needed to protect nurses on the frontlines – over 90% of whom are women. We’re partnering with National Nurses United, the largest union of registered nurses in the country, to finally get nurses the protections they need to do their jobs safely in this pandemic.
Congress must pass these necessary protections for nurses: an emergency temporary standard from the Occupational Health & Safety Administration and mandate the President use the Defense Production Act to mass produce the PPE nurses still so desperately need.
Will you stand with nurses to demand that the U.S. Senate pass the two key provisions in the HEROES Act necessary to protect nurses and patients from COVID-19?
Tell the Senate to protect nurses »
The Senate is going on recess on July 2, so time is running out. We need you to take just a minute to sign because every signature shows Senators that their constituents care about this issue.
Nurses are paying the price every time our leaders prioritize reopening the economy over halting the spread of the pandemic. We need a huge showing of pressure right now to make sure that every Senator – especially Mitch McConnell – knows that protections for nurses are non-negotiable. Inaction is immoral, and more nurses will die if the Senate refuses to act.
The House passed the HEROES Act, which includes these two key provisions required to protect nurses. We must demand the same from the Senate now. Nurses cannot wait.
This petition is critical to demanding the protections we need once and for all. NNU is in D.C. meeting with Congressional staff, and they need to be able to show the outpouring of support from women, other frontline workers, and allies everywhere who demand these protections are passed into law.
Please sign our petition with NNU to the U.S. Senate now to demand they pass these key provisions into law to protect nurses and all of us from COVID-19.
Nurses are still putting their lives on the line everyday, John, treating COVID-19 patients without the proper protections. When more nurses get infected, the more their patients’ lives are at risk — the more we’re ALL at risk.
Every signature counts.
Tabitha
P.S. Please watch and share this video of NNU Executive Director, Bonnie Castillo, RN testifying to Congress to help amplify our message and protect nurses.
