John,
Working-class communities across the country deserve working-class champions in Congress. That’s why Justice Democrats just endorsed our newest candidate of the 2026 cycle: Angela Gonzales-Torres.
Angela is running to represent California’s 34th district. Based in the heart of Los Angeles, it’s one of the poorest communities in the state. They face some of the highest rates of eviction notices, incarceration, and unhoused students.
These Angelenos are represented by a Democrat, but no one is fighting for them in Washington, DC. With their current Representative, Jimmy Gomez, this community is underserved, and the extreme housing and affordability crisis Angela and her neighbors are experiencing has gone ignored.
CA-34 needs a leader who understands the struggles of the community firsthand, has a vision bold enough to address these challenges with the urgency they demand, and isn’t afraid to speak up against the Democratic establishment when it stands in her way.
This is a working-class district where the median age is 37, nearly half of community members were born outside the United States, and fewer than 40% of eligible voters voted in the 2024 primary election. CA-34 is clearly not excited about Jimmy Gomez and is interested in electing a different representative. We know Angela is the candidate to carry her community’s desire for change over the finish line.
While Jimmy builds his personal wealth and cozies up to the real estate, investment banking, and cryptocurrency industries that put profits before people, the community he was elected to represent — Angela’s students, friends, and neighbors — only continues to suffer.
CA-34 didn’t just wake up this cycle realizing their incumbent wasn't working for them: for the last two election cycles, this incumbent has had competitive primaries with 44 percent of the electorate voting against him in the last election!
The only reason Jimmy is able to keep his seat is because he is bought and paid for by big-money Super PACs like AIPAC that have spent millions of dollars to keep him in office.
And those corporate PACs and Super PACs are getting what they paid for, time and time again. Jimmy is one of the biggest recipients of AIPAC money in the 2024 cycle — and he still hasn’t signed onto the ceasefire bill, called for an end to the genocide, or signed on to the Block the Bombs Act. He also pocketed more than half a million dollars from crypto lobbies in 2024, and then voted to greenlight Donald Trump’s corrupt crypto agenda, allowing Trump to continue to make billions of dollars off his presidency.
But we can change that this cycle, John, and kick corruption out of CA-34. By building a groundswell of grassroots support for Angela, we can beat the organized money machine keeping this corporate Democrat in office.
Justice Democrats has done it before with candidates like AOC and Summer Lee — and with you by our side, we’ll do it again for Angela.
Together, we can build a Congress that truly works for the working class.
