MAGA lawmakers in Congress are just one step away from passing the SAVE Act — a modern-day poll tax that could disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans.
They’ve already gotten the bill through the House. Donald Trump has already promised to sign it into law if it reaches his desk. And the far right has a plan to pass it through the Senate.
The bill’s backers want “to convince lawmakers to attach the SAVE Act to a must-pass piece of legislation this fall — likely either a continuing budget resolution or the National Defense Authorization Act,” according to reporting from Democracy Docket .
And radical groups like the Tea Party Patriots are rallying their base — including through a new bus tour — to pressure senators into getting it over the finish line.
Now that the Senate is back in session for the fall, we’re entering a new phase of the fight to stop it. We need to demonstrate that there is strong, widespread opposition to this dangerous bill.

This legislation could block huge swathes of eligible voters from getting registered because of new requirements to show specific, costly, and inaccessible government documents.
And it’s part of MAGA’s anti-democracy agenda, which aims to shield out-of-touch politicians from getting held accountable by voters in truly free and fair elections.
