Staying in touch with Kansans however I can is incredibly important to me.‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Hi John.

I hope you’re well. I hear from Kansans every day who are working hard but are still struggling with higher prices — from groceries to mortgages to health care. I know how stressful that can be. I was raised by a single mom and I'm still paying off my student loans.

My job is to bring your voice to Washington. So today, I wanted to share a quick update on how I’m continuing to help lower costs and connect with Kansans throughout our district.

Working with Kansas Agriculture to Lower Grocery Prices

As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I’m committed to supporting our local farms and food businesses. Helping Kansas farmers grow and deliver food more cheaply means supporting our economy and lower prices at the grocery store.

That’s why I recently toured farms and businesses that are part our district’s agricultural supply chain. Click here to learn more about it.

I was happy to visit local farmers, food-workers, and store owners to see how each step of the supply chain can impact grocery prices and explore how we can strengthen Kansas’s supply chain.

Improving the local agriculture supply chain lowers grocery costs, creates jobs, and delivers fresher, healthier food to Kansans. I’m glad to support legislation to help do just that, and I’ll continue to work with local leaders to deliver results.

Protecting Kansans’ Health Care

I also recently hosted a conversation with local health care providers to discuss the harmful impact of new health care cuts.

A new partisan law means kicking more than 92,000 Kansans off their health care, including children and seniors, and forcing thousands more to pay another $708 in premiums. Moreover, reckless cuts to Medicaid will further strain rural hospitals that are already stretched thin.

These cuts threaten to make Kansans travel even farther for care. I am engaging directly with hospitals to see how I can support them moving forward.

Kansans need solutions to lower their costs, not more extremism. That's why I helped pass a law to cap insulin prices at $35 a month for seniors and give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices, helping 74,000 Kansans. I also worked with both parties to ban surprise medical bills. No one should get an unexpected bill after a hospital stay.

Conversation with Kansas Leaders to Shape Next Major Transportation Bill

As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure committee, I’m looking forward to shaping our nation’s next transportation law.

It’s important to me to make sure that Kansas is always part of the conversation – so I held a roundtable with local transportation leaders to get their input.

One of my proudest achievements in the House was working with both Republicans and Democrats to pass a major and bipartisan infrastructure law.

This law launched more than 370 projects here in Kansas. That includes everything replacing lead pipes to modernizing U.S. Highway 69. These are real, tangible improvements that make a difference for Kansans. They create jobs, make our economy more efficient, and help strengthen our supply chains and bring down costs.

I’m now looking forward to building on this important progress in a bipartisan way.

My focus is on concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower your costs.
