I’m originally from Owatonna and earned my degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a Psychology minor from Winona State University. My internship at the VA Medical Center’s spinal cord injury and disorder center gave me the tools and inspiration to pursue a career serving Veterans—something deeply personal, having grown up in a military family.
For the past two years, I’ve worked at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis, where I’ve built meaningful relationships with both Residents and staff. What I love most is the opportunity to give back to those who’ve given so much—our Veterans. Every day, I get to listen, learn, and offer care and respect in ways that truly matter.
To anyone considering a position at MDVA, I’d tell them this: it’s one of the most meaningful and rewarding paths you can take. Caring for Veterans is truly an honor. This work gives you the chance to make a real impact—not just professionally, but personally. It’s more than a job. It’s a way to serve those who’ve served and find purpose in every moment.
