 Meeting with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV   

On Saturday, August 23rd, I had the high honor of meeting His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at the 16th Annual Meeting of the International Catholic Legislators Network (ICLN). Pope Leo challenged us to build a world rooted in hope, conscience, and solidarity. He also urged us to shape the societies around us, and our neighbors, with the love of God rather than our own selfish interests.

On Tuesday, August 19th, I joined Karla Leal from Spectrum News In-Focus to discuss the challenges for families living along the border and the work I’m doing to raise the standard of living.  

I’ve Introduced legislation like the Ensuring Continued Access to Funding for Colonias Act to better serve our border communities. I’m also proud to have delivered over $900 million in federal funding for TX-34 to ensure growth and prosperity for South Texas. You can watch my full interview by clicking the link above.

On Thursday, August 14, I sat down with Clara Benitez-Cortez from KRIS 6 to discuss Texas’ new congressional maps. I have always delivered for the people of TX-34, and that will never change, no matter how Texas Republicans try to redraw our maps. 

Honoring and Celebrating our Veteran’s at the Annual VetFest  

On Thursday, August 28,  Team Gonzalez attended the annual VetFest in Port Isabel. This festival brings together veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families, providing them opportunities to network and learn about available resources. 

During the festival, Team Gonzalez was honored to present Ms. Esmeralda Castle with a Congressional Record to honor her daughter, Seaman Angelina Resendiz, who was tragically killed earlier this year while in service.  

We also presented a letter of support to Laguna Madre Veterans United, a newly established organization that hosted this year's VetFest. We commend them for their dedication to serving our veterans and families in the Laguna Madre area!
