John! This week, I gave iShowSpeed – one of the most popular Internet sensations in the world – a live tour of the U.S. Capitol.
I can’t overstate how massive Speed’s reach is: He has over 43.5 million YouTube subscribers, and over 150,000 young viewers tuned in LIVE to our tour.
The majority of Speed’s fan base are young men – the very group that Democrats are losing.
That means our livestream re-engaged 150,000 members of our most critical voting bloc, teaching them about our democracy, our government, and – most importantly – the power of their vote (I had to plug Vote.org for the stream!)
This isn’t just a cool moment. This is what we should already be doing as Democrats.
Let’s be real: You can’t reach new, young voters with the same old tactics. Door-knocking and mailers can only go so far, and it won’t get us the young people who live online.
If we want to inspire the next generations – especially the young men in my generation who are tuning out of politics – we have to meet them where they are.
That’s exactly what I’m going to keep doing: reaching new voters with new energy. But I can’t change the game without my grassroots team backing me up, so I have to ask:
Can you rush $27 to power this movement so I can bring more young people in the fight for our country’s future? >>
