SCA and our Members Demand OPM Director Scott Kupor Rescind Memo Allowing Religious Harassment
The Secular Coalition for America and our coalition members have urged the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to rescind its new guidelines for religious expression in government workplaces.
We point out how the memorandum allowing religious coercion and prosthelytizing will lead to the harassment of nonreligious employees, allow employees to try conversion techniques on coworkers (or even the public!), and create an environment where supervisors can pressure their subordinates.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been Using Biblical Quotes in Social Media Videos
The Department of Homeland Security has been quoting the Bible in anti-immigrant messages on social media. Some of their posts even use imagery tied to “manifest destiny,” a 19th-century idea that claimed God wanted American settlers to spread across the U.S.
These themes echo today’s Christian nationalist movement, which pushes for a conservative, white, Christian vision of America and seeks to exclude immigrants who don’t fit that vision.
