Republicans Just Cut Shore Protection Funding by 70%

Dear Neighbor,

Hurricane Erin washed away dunes and eroded beaches just weeks ago, which is why federal shore protection is so vital to protecting homes, businesses, and our infrastructure on the Jersey Shore.

But just this week, House Republicans voted for a bill that slashes shore protection funding by a whopping 70 percent – cutting $140 million nationwide and leaving New Jersey towns to foot the bill. This isn’t about sunbathing. These projects are lifelines that keep our communities safe from flooding and storm damage.

I spoke on the House Floor to denounce this reckless Republican cut. Shifting the burden onto Shore towns while climate change worsens storms is simply dangerous. I’ll continue leading the fight to secure robust funding for shore protection projects so that our coastal and Bayshore communities don’t get left behind.

Demanding Accountability from RFK, Jr.

Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services Secretary RFK, Jr. has been taking a hacksaw to our health care system.

Last week, he fired CDC Director Susan Monarez, triggering a mass resignation of experts from America's most important public health agency. This came after the Trump Administration's decision to restrict access to COVID-19 vaccines for millions of Americans. These two steps show a total disregard for the health of American families and extreme contempt for science.

I demanded Secretary Kennedy testify in front of my committee and urged my colleagues to join me in holding him accountable. We cannot afford to waste any more time and watch as he tears our public health system limb from limb.

Release the Epstein Files!

This week, I signed onto a discharge petition that would force the release of the Epstein Files. The Trump White House has pressured lawmakers against signing the petition because they want to cover for the President. I joined hundreds of my colleagues to demand accountability and transparency, as well as justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.

Celebrating American Workers

Monday was Labor Day, and I was happy to join our workers and the South Plainfield community for their annual parade. The labor movement has won countless victories for America's workers, from the five-day workweek to better working conditions. I will always stand in solidarity with America's workers and support organized labor as the Trump administration moves to revoke collective bargaining protections for federal workers.
