BREMERTON, Wash. – Drivers should plan for lane closures beginning Monday, Sept. 8, as the Navy begins seismic upgrades on the Anderson Hill Road railroad bridge near the Old Frontier Road intersection in Silverdale.
One lane will be closed Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to keep construction crews safe during work hours. Both lanes will reopen Friday through Sunday. The contractor responsible for this military construction project has coordinated with the Kitsap County Public Works Department for road sign notifications.
The initial construction phase is expected to last 4-6 weeks, though the schedule may be extended depending on the scope of repairs and technical requirements. Work will include pre-construction inspections, cleaning, concrete repairs, and installation of carbon-fiber reinforced polymer and protective coatings.
As part of the seismic upgrades, the existing community mural on the bridge will be covered. Currently, there are no confirmed plans for a replacement mural. Navy representatives will continue to keep local leaders informed should the community wish to pursue repainting in the future.
In total, the Navy is upgrading four railroad overpasses across the region. These projects will help safeguard critical transportation infrastructure, ensuring it remains reliable for both military operations and the surrounding community. We appreciate the community’s patience as crews complete this critical work.
