John,
Right now, there are multiple attacks on mental health care in America.
The Trump administration announced in June that it will not enforce a mental health parity rule implemented under the Biden administration, which required health plans to cover mental health care.1
At the same time, when Congress passed its Big Brutal Bill earlier this summer, slashing $1 trillion in Medicaid funding, it cut funding for the largest payer of mental health care in the country. A Stateline report warns that the Medicaid cuts alone will leave entire counties without a single mental health provider.2 The damage will be irreversible for many people with urgent needs.
Send a message to Congress demanding they block Trump’s rollback of mental health care coverage, defend mental health parity, and undo Medicaid cuts that will devastate care nationwide.
SEND A MESSAGE
Congress needs to hear that constituents support mental health coverage, because the threats against this vital care are proceeding on multiple fronts. Not only would Trump’s stalling on parity and his massive Medicaid cuts slash access to mental health services, Congress is considering appropriations bills that either let inflation shrink funding (the Senate) or slash it massively (the House).
The impacts these cuts and budget shortfalls will have on our mental health care system will be catastrophic. Congress must do more, and that starts with preventing Trump from undoing protections for adequate mental health coverage and rejecting and reversing Medicaid cuts that will also slash access to mental health services.
Join us in calling on Congress to block the Trump administration’s rollback of the health care parity rule and to reverse the recently enacted devastating Medicaid cuts, which will lead to harsh cuts in mental health services, hitting low-income and rural communities the hardest.
Thank you for all you do,
