As part of the Trump administration’s campaign to reshape our nation’s history to align with its extremist ideology, officials are calling for changes to the museums’ exhibits — claiming they are “out of control” and focus too much on “how bad slavery was.”
This is just another attempt to whitewash history and force a revisionist narrative that serves a hateful, far-right agenda, erasing the realities of systemic oppression that have harmed Black and Brown people, Indigenous communities, the LGBTQ+ community and immigrants.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is fighting back by tackling hate at its roots — publishing hard-hitting investigative reports, challenging discriminatory laws in court and empowering the next generation through education to reject all forms of bigotry.
Friend, please add your name, and urge the Smithsonian’s Board of Regents to take a clear stand against censorship and defend the full, unvarnished truth of our history. ([link removed])

History shows that authoritarian regimes often operate this way — taking control of cultural institutions and rewriting history to fit their beliefs. It’s a dangerous tactic meant to erase truth and silence communities whose histories are inconvenient to those in power.
But we know that truth matters. We won’t let history be rewritten to serve hate — and we know you won’t either. Join us: Add your name now. ([link removed])
