Hey there John,
Three weeks ago, Trump sent armed military forces into DC. For three weeks, he’s been occupying the capitol. This is fascism, as straightforward as it possibly could be, as though lifted straight from a dystopian movie. Even worse, DC Mayor Bowser THANKED President Trump.
We have a narrow window before this becomes the new normal. Los Angeles. Chicago. New Orleans, and more will be next if Trump sees he can get away with doing this in DC.
Trump is using the military to intimidate critics and to target Black people, immigrants, the homeless, and anybody else who doesn’t fit HIS image of America.
We refuse to stay silent.
On September 9th, students across DC will walk out of class together, demanding an end to Trump’s occupation of DC and urging campus officials to protect students and our communities.
The billionaires and corporations backing his authoritarian power grab are the same ones driving us headlong into the climate crisis. They’re counting on people being intimidated into staying silent so they can burn another 50 years of fossil fuels and torch our future.
They want us silent, so we’re getting loud. As a movement to avert the climate crisis, there is no path ahead that does not tackle the authoritarian crisis we are under right now.
We must act now, and we need you to join us.
