This week I rose on the House Floor to call for Speaker Johnson to bring my bill, HR 4889, up for a vote. This will stop Newsom's scheme to defraud and disenfranchise our voters.
Overall, there are 3 separate ways we can stop the Redistricting Sham: First, passing my bill in Congress to outlaw it. Second, winning a federal lawsuit. Third, winning the “Special Election.” All face major hurdles. But one way or another, we can beat this.
The biggest hurdle, of course, is Newsom’s outright fraud. I gave a speech on the House Floor exposing how he has written the language on the ballot to make Yes appear to be No. As a case study, I also detailed all the ways he tried – and failed – to cheat during the Prop. 36 election.
Speaking of fraud, Adam Schiff went on TV and claimed I was "missing in action"for not voting for a prior redistricting bill. Turns out I had a pretty good excuse: I wasn't in Congress yet. So surprising that he would ever mislead the public. (Jasmine Crocket made the same false attack.)
Meanwhile, Newsom is taking credit for our own success Newsom-Proofing California. He cited a modest reduction in crime, not mentioning it’s because we passed Prop. 36 and won a Supreme Court case restoring the right to remove homeless – both of which he opposed.
On the legislative front, I am sponsoring a bill to end insider trading by members of Congress; I’m introducing legislation to return our federal buildings to classical/traditional architecture; and I chaired a hearing on returning our schools to teaching the basics – proper reading and math.
Despite all these wins, the Redistricting Sham looms. If you feel the deck is stacked against us, you are right. But that's never stopped us before. This is a fight to save democracy in California and to end Newsom's pathetic political career. It's a fight we can win.
