John, it's Valerie –
There are times in our nation’s history where inaction becomes a form of action. Congress’ failure to address our country’s gun violence epidemic is one of our gravest failures. We do not lack solutions. We lack the political courage.
There is no community in North Carolina or across the country that has not been impacted by the devastation of gun violence. Millions of parents, children, and neighbors live with a fear that has become all too familiar. It doesn’t have to be this way.
No one should fear sending their child to school, attending a place of worship, or simply going to the grocery store. We have the tools to address gun violence — what we need now is the political courage to act.
As a member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I’ve been proud to help lead efforts to reinstate the federal assault weapons ban and advance meaningful, commonsense gun safety legislation.
We can’t allow another tragedy to be met with empty statements and no action. Not when lives are on the line and when every day of inaction puts more families at risk.
If you’re with me in the fight to end gun violence, I’d be honored to have your support. Add your name to my petition demanding that Congress take action to protect American families, children, and communities from the devastation of gun violence.
Thank you,
Valerie Foushee
