Friend,
Our communities in D.C. are under attack. I see armed National Guardsmen and miscellaneous police every day on my walk to work or when I’m out with friends. If you live, work or play in the District, I know you do too.
Trump has amassed a personal army of federal troops, out-of-state National Guard and local police — and dispatched them to harass, surveil and detain Black and Brown residents, immigrants, youth and our unhoused neighbors.
Hundreds have been arrested. Thousands harassed. All for daring to simply go about their daily lives.
So tomorrow — Sat., Sept. 6 — we’re marching to demand an end to the Trump takeover of D.C. Join us at 11 a.m. at Malcolm X Park (16th St. NW & W St. NW) as we march to the White House.
We’re marching for:
- An immediate withdrawal of federal troops from the District
- An end to the federalization of the local police department
- The right to permanently protect our communities in the future
After meeting at Malcolm X Park, we’ll march down 16th Street to Freedom Plaza. We’ll rally beginning at 1 p.m. there and will then continue to the White House. We refuse to stay silent as the Trump administration and federal troops take over our community.
RSVP for Saturday’s rally and stand up to Trump’s power grab.
Our lack of proper representation as D.C. residents has never been so apparent or so dangerous. We have to claim power for ourselves with a mass mobilization that cannot be denied — and as Trump threatens to send troops to Baltimore and Chicago, we have a chance to hold the line before anyone else has to face this authoritarian violence.
In solidarity,
Heather and the rest of us at Free Press Action
