John,
We’ve got a LOT of exciting news to share from the past month, so we put together this WFP newsletter just for you! Keep reading to catch up on our recent wins and updates for the fight ahead.
Notching More WFP Victories!
If you thought this year’s Working Families Party wave was just in New York City – think again. Working Families Party candidates scored primary wins from Seattle to Detroit to Tucson this past month.
Wins like these are only possible because of WFP members like you who donate their time, energy, and resources to electing champions for working people at every level of government, and taking the fight directly to the billionaires.
See the full recap of our primary season wins here.
Defying Trump’s Gerrymandering Powergrab
When Texas Governor Greg Abbott called the state legislature back for a special session, it wasn’t to help families and communities recovering from devastating floods. It was to do Donald Trump’s bidding to gerrymander the state to deliver five extra Republican districts in Congress.
The Democratic Caucus skipped town, leaving Republicans without a quorum to execute on Trump’s demands. As WFP National Director Maurice Mitchell said in a national AP wire story, they were “taking real risks in protecting all of our rights” against “an authoritarian president who only understands the fight.”
Texas WFP got to work with partners at Texas for All to turn out residents for local rallies, deliver testimony at regional hearings, and organize a national day of action to oppose Trump’s power grab, anchored by a 5,000-person strong rally in Austin.

WFP members around the country turned out for solidarity rallies. New York WFP anchored a rally with lawmakers who announced a plan to fight back with New York’s line. And California WFP came out in support of Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan to redistrict the state to fight fire with fire and add Democratic-leaning districts and held a well-attended organizing call with WFP champs US Rep. Lateefah Simon and Texas state Sen. Molly Cook.

Major Endorsement Alert: Greg Casar
While Texas may have passed their rigged Congressional maps in a desperate attempt to prevent the GOP from losing the House, we’re fighting back.
One of the candidates most at risk was Congressman Greg Casar — and last month, we proudly endorsed him for re-election.
A proud Texan and son of immigrants, Greg began his career as a labor organizer, fighting for living wages and dignity for working people. On the Austin City Council, he delivered major wins, from paid sick days to affordable housing.
And for the past three years in Congress, Greg has worked hand-in-hand with WFP to continue these fights, making sure the needs of working people in Texas — and across the country — stay front and center.
With his 2026 campaign for TX-37 officially underway, it’s time to show Greg that we’re still behind him.
Split a donation between Greg’s campaign and WFP to help send him back to Congress in 2026, alongside a working families majority.
Winning Critical Protections for Working Families in Delaware
Recently, Delaware experienced the first property reassessment in 40 years, resulting in shocking increases for many residents, and shifting the state’s tax burden onto homeowners rather than businesses.
WFP legislators pushed for a full reassessment to fix the state’s upside-down tax system, a solution that would have addressed the root problem instead of offering temporary fixes.
While that proposal wasn’t considered, WFP legislators didn’t back down. Their persistence secured critical protections for working people, including flexible payment plans to prevent homeowners from losing their homes over unpaid taxes.
Thanks to their leadership, Delaware homeowners received a lifeline during the special session — but the underlying issue, the unfair tax system itself, still remains unaddressed.

Getting Into the Groove With WFP at Outside Lands
As part of our mission to meet people where they are at, WFP posted up at the 2025 Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco where we had a WFP’s People’s Parlor booth featuring a photobooth, free manicures from our nail techs, cute stick on freckles that sparkled, and swag for attendees who signed on to throw down with WFP.
And our fave Big Freedia DJ’d sets and got real with WFP’s Nelini Stamp.
