It was a busy summer at Her Bold Move, and in our country as a whole. We wanted to send you a quick summary of what you may have missed as it pertains to our work:

We saw some bizarre headlines, like CNN’s profile of a pastor named Douglas Wilson and the influential movement he leads. The piece explained that his movement preaches that women should not be allowed to vote or hold leadership positions.

It was later revealed that members of the Trump administration are congregants of this church, and hold this dangerously sexist worldview as well…

Another headline came from Tennessee, where a 35-year-old pregnant woman was denied prenatal care by her physician because she was “unwed.” This type of formerly illegal discrimination has now been deemed legal in TN.

In Colorado, a state Representative snapped a photo of his female colleague, another state lawmaker, without her knowledge or permission. Within an hour, the photo ended up on an “anonymous social media account with conservative followers” with the caption “Smash or Pass,” and the photo has continued to circulate online.

We also saw the passing and signing of Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” The lack of women’s representation in the room where that bill was being written was abundantly clear as it explicitly stripped access to healthcare away from millions of people – and will have an outsized impact on American women.
