Dear John, Every election matters—even the ones in “off years.”
There aren’t any big statewide races on the ballot this fall, and next year’s governor and senate contests are already grabbing headlines. But, before we start looking to next year, there’s something really important right in front of us: Question 1.
Here’s the truth: Question 1 is a direct attack on Maine voters and our democracy. Far-right politicians and out-of-state interest groups are trying to make it harder for people to vote. They want to limit absentee dropboxes, end ongoing registration for absentee ballots, reduce the time period for early absentee voting, and more.
If you believe, like we do, that everyone should have equal access to the ballot, then the answer is simple: VOTE NO on Question 1. |
We’re still a couple of months away from Election Day, but you don’t have to wait to make a difference. The Save Maine Absentee Voting campaign is looking for volunteers to knock doors, talk to neighbors, and even share their own experience absentee voting in Maine, with a Letter to the Editor (LTE) or Opinion piece (Op-Ed).
Check out upcoming canvassing dates here or reply to this email if you’re interested in writing an Op-Ed or LTE. Thank you for standing up for democracy, - Nick |
